As we close in on the anniversary of the last win of "The
Streak" (9/4/02), the A's managed to put up a 20 spot against the Red Sox last night.
I’m not sure what needs to happen, but the sooner this season
ends, the sooner the Red Sox can hit the reset button, fire Bobby V, and
pretend this season never happened. What
a mess! Hopefully last night’s game
deflates their locker room and the A’s can take advantage of that through the
rest of the weekend.
On to bigger and brighter teams, last night’s win puts the A’s 17 games over .500 and they remain in
the lead for the Wild Card! The team is
only 4 games behind Texas at this point and this latest win streak (at 7 games)
has provided a little bit of breathing room with Tampa Bay,
Detroit, and Anaheim. The A’s
are once again the hottest team in baseball.
Bob Melvin should really consider clearing some space in the mantle for
his forthcoming “Manager of the Year” award.
Meaningful
games as we start September baseball?!
Yes!! Let’s go Oakland!!
